A named style is a collection of font and paragraph attributes that you can apply at once. CuteSITE Builder includes a number of common named styles with each Web design. You can modify these named styles and also create your own named styles.
You modify or create a named style either by first formatting some "model" for the named style, or by defining the characteristics of the named style in the Styles dialog box.
Modify or create an existing named style using model text
1. Select the model text.
2. Right-click the selected text and choose Format > Style. The Styles dialog box appears.
3. To modify the existing named style, click the Modify button and choose As Selection.
OR
To create a new style, click New Style.
4. If you are creating a new named style, type a name for the named style in the text box and click OK.
5. Click Close.
Modify or create a named style without model text
1. Right-click the page area and choose Format > Style. The Styles dialog box appears.
2. If you are modifying an existing style, choose the style from the list under Styles.
OR
If you are creating a new style, click New Style, type a name for the style, and choose whether you want the new style to be based on the current text selection or on an existing style. Then click OK.
3. Click Modify. A menu appears with commands that let you specify the characteristics of the text.
4. To define the named style, choose one or more of the following:
· Font: Lets you change the font or type size of text.
· Paragraph: Lets you align text, indent and outdent text, and change paragraph spacing.
· Bullets: Lets you add bullets to text.
· As Selection: Creates a style based on the appearance of the selected text.
After you work in each dialog box and click OK, CuteSITE Builder returns to the Styles dialog box.
5. (Optional) If you want all text in the current paragraphs to appear in the style you have defined, click Apply Style.
By default, CuteSITE Builder maintains local formatting when applying a named style. If you want to remove local formatting, so that CuteSITE Builder changes all text in the selected paragraphs to the named style, select the Remove local formatting when applying style option.
6. Click Close.
Delete a named style
1. Right-click in the page area and choose Format > Style. The Styles dialog box appears.
2. Select the style to delete from the Styles list.
3. Click Delete. When you delete a style, any paragraphs currently assigned that style switch to the default style.
Notes
n If you modify or create a new named style, CuteSITE Builder changes the style definition or adds the new name to the named style list for the current file only. To make your changes available in future files, you must save them to the Web design.
n If you modify an existing named style, the changes will take effect in any other paragraphs currently formatted in the named style. CuteSITE Builder maintains any local formatting when applying the changed named style.
n You cannot use this dialog to modify the entries in parentheses in the named style list (for example, (Left Border text)). These represent the default text style for each page area, the styles that CuteSITE Builder has determined are most effective for each page area given the look and setup of the entire page layout. Text you enter appears in this style unless you apply another named style or locally format text or paragraphs. When you change the layout applied to a page, or the design of a Web site file, this page area property can change, and paragraphs in this "style" will be reformatted to the default style for the area in the new design.
If you do need to modify default styles, choose Properties > Page Area and then click the Advanced tab.
