Place one page's field(s) in another page
An inserted field uses information from a page’s Page Properties dialog box as its text. Fields are most often used as links, but you can also place fields from one page onto another page, as simple references that update automatically.
1. In the page area, right-click where you want the inserted field to appear and choose Link > Link to a Page Link Using > Other Fields.
2. From the drop-down list, select one of the nine possible fields to refer to.
3. Clear the Linked check box, and then click OK. The mouse pointer turns into the link shape.
4. In the map, click the page you want the inserted field to come from. If you are displaying the outline, you can also click that page's title in the outline area.
CuteSITE Builder inserts a reference to the other page's field in the current page. This field can be edited, but it does not serve as a link.
Notes
You can also create an inserted field by placing the cursor where you want the link to appear and choosing Link > Link to a Page Using > Other Fields.
To make a field into a link, you must recreate it, just as you do when you need to change a link into a field.
Define custom fields using the Page Properties dialog box.
CuteSITE Builder uses a page’s field information as it appears in the page’s Page Properties dialog box. Any changes to the fields in the Page Properties box are automatically reflected in all references to that information.
Similarly, if you edit a field, the changes are automatically updated in the linked page’s Page Properties box, and in all other field links and inserted fields in the file that use the information.
You can insert a page’s fields even if you have not yet entered information for them in the page’s Properties dialog box. CuteSITE Builder inserts placeholder text; for example, —Type Title Here —. If you edit this placeholder text, the changes you make will also appear in the page’s Properties dialog box, as well as in any other field links or inserted fields on other pages that use the field information.
For examples of what inserted fields and field links can look like while being edited or formatted, see the Fields Overview.
You can also create a basic link using some of the page’s content as the link and create an automatic list of links to all pages in a sequence. For more information on links, see the Links Overview
You can also change a field into text, which breaks all ties between the field and the Page Properties dialog box, other field links, and other inserted fields.
