1. Right-click the map and choose Insert Shape.
2. Choose the type of shape you want; Rectangle, Oval, or Line.
3. (Optional) Drag the shape to the desired location.
4. (Optional) Select the shape, so its handles appear, and then drag the corners of the shape with the mouse to adjust its size.
Although the line initially appears as a diagonal line, you can drag it to be vertical. Similarly, you can use the oval to create circles. Rectangles can be of any size.
You can change the priority order of elements in the map to determine the way overlapping shapes display.
To change the color of the shape or add an edge, right-click it and choose Properties. You can also use the shape Properties dialog boxes to set whether the shapes display only in the main map, only in the OverAll map, or in both maps and to create a link from a shape to a page, file, or URL.
Shapes are visual enhancements to the map. Moving pages to a line or grouping pages on a rectangle or oval does not automatically link the pages.
You can lock shapes and other map elements in place on the map so that you don’t inadvertently move them while moving pages, labels, sequences, or tour sequences. Right-click in the map and choose Lock Background to lock map elements.
You cannot move map elements (such as pages, labels, and shapes) beyond the borders of the map. However, you can drag an element against the edge of the map window to cause the map to scroll. Use the OverAll map to locate a map element that is out of sight, or scroll the map to bring the element into view. As an alternative to scrolling, you can choose Map > Main > 200% or Map > Main > 100% to change the level of detail in the map.
