Before users can log in to EFT Server using the Web Transfer Client (WTC), the EFT Server administrator must configure EFT Server to allow connections from the Web Transfer Client. NTAD domain users must have logon permission on the EFT Server computer in order to logon to EFT Server through the WTC. This is accomplished by adding the AD domain user to the "Allow log on locally" list on the EFT Server computer. If an AD domain user is not in this list, log on to EFT Server through the WTC will fail and an error message appears informing the user that Local login access is required to log on to EFT Server.
If a user has multiple sessions open and you want to free up licenses, stop and restart the Site. Stopping and restarting the Site resets the license count and disconnects everybody who is connected; users must reestablish their session.
EFT Web Transfer Client Requirements
Java 1.4.2 (J2SE) – JRE 1.6.0_05
Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0 (Win) with latest OS/browser patches with JavaScript and cookies enabled
Turn off auto-ban flood sensitivity to allow users to connect successfully.
If you create an SSL certificate with a key length of 4096 bits or greater, the Web Transfer Client will not function properly due to its reliance on the Java runtime (JRE), which currently does not support key lengths of 4096 bits or greater.
In order for a user to be able to upload or download files or manage files in their home folder, the administrator must grant them permissions in the Virtual File System (VFS).
To configure EFT Server to allow Web Transfer Client Connections
In EFT Administrator, connect to EFT Server and click the Server tab.
In the left pane, expand the Site node, and the User Setting Levels node, then do one of the following:
To enable the Web Transfer Client for all users in a User Setting Level (Allows you to apply a setting configuration to an entire group of users. Every client account or user must be a member of a User Setting Level. User Setting Levels exist within a Site and consist of a group of settings used as a template. AKA Settings Level), click the User Setting Level.
To enable the Web Transfer Client for a specific user, expand the User Setting Level node, then click the username.
In the right pane, click the Security tab.
In the Protocols area, select the Allow Use of Web Transfer Client for HTTP/s sessions check box. If this check box is not available, you have not activated the Web Transfer Client, or the trial has expired.
HTTP or HTTPS must also be enabled. It is highly recommended that HTTPS be used if security is a concern. |
Click Apply.
EFT Server allows users concurrent access to the Web Transfer Client up to the number of your available licenses. If a user attempts to access the client when the maximum number of licenses is in use, the upload form loads instead. Inform users that each refresh of the browser counts as one session, so do not click the browser's Refresh icon (or F5). Click the Refresh icon in the WTC instead, which refreshes the display without requesting a new session. |
